The Research and Publication Department (RPD), School of Law, University of Juba wishes to announce to the legal fraternity, academia and the entire research community that it has launched a new law journal called the Juba Law Review Journal (JLR).
The Journal will publish peer reviewed articles in contemporary socio-legal issues falling in the following themes:
- Constitution making process;
- Role of independent institutions of democracy e.g. judiciary and other oversight institutions;
- Land and right of access to housing as well as customary rights to land;
- Rule of law, human rights, and good governance;
- African legal philosophies including customary law;
- Update on relevant legal information such as on new laws, judicial decisions, and legal opinions; and
- Any other topic of contemporary relevance.
The JLR publishes ten (10) articles every six (6) months or twice a year.
The JLR now calls for abstracts for its inaugural publication to be submitted following the below guidelines:
- Author/s can submit 1,000 words abstract outlining the topic and article’s thematic focus;
- The deadline for submitting abstracts is December 15th 2023.
- Submissions are to follow the School of Law’s Style Guide which is a nuanced on the OSCALA guidelines;
- Abstracts will first be reviewed by the Editors to ascertain if they should be accepted or rejected;
- Authors of the accepted abstracts will be informed by December 22nd 2023; and
- Draft articles of 10,000 words will be expected from authors by February 15th 2023.
